I love jewelry. Who doesn’t, really? I like everything shiny, really, and I’ve already said that sparkle is my favorite color.
So when I was at a photo shoot recently (check back for this Friday’s Interview for more deets and pics), when the make up artist busted out a shiny modern ring, I thought, that’s cool – I would totally rock that!
But it wasn’t just a ring. Well, it WAS a ring but in the Alton Brown school of thought, I believe everything should be multi-purpose. This ring had a job, other than being fabulous.
It was a RING PALETTE. She used it to transfer eye liner, lipstick, and lip gloss to the palette before applying to the model. This accomplishes a couple of things. One, it keeps the make up MUCH closer to the face, so it’s easier to apply. Two, it also keeps things clean, since the applicators never touch any person. And lastly, it allows for much easier blending.
So, I’ve ordered one. One of the things I HATE is throwing away gloss. It doesn’t matter if I hate the color, or can barely get the remainder out of the tube (we’ll cover how to do this in another blog post), I paid money for the gloss, so I’m going to use it all!
The beauty of the ring palette is that it provides a tiny, portable surface to do the blending. I can drop a couple of kinds of gloss on the palette, swirl to combine, and then I’m off to the races!
The last advantage of this little beauty is that it is soooooo easy to clean. One Clorox wipe swiped across the top and it is clean, sanitized, and ready to be put away.
Or worn out, which I fully intend to do once this beauty shows up in my mail box!
